A Tribute to the Classic Handheld Console

Disassembly
- First, choose a item of technology to deconstruct a Game Boy in our case.
- Disassemble the device by removing all the screws from the rear of the case with a screwdriver.
- Separate the front and rear Game Boy cases.
- Remove all the internal screws that hold the electronics to the front and rear cases, and take them out.
- Finally, unclip any component that is attached directly to the cases.
Component Cleaning
Now that all the components have been separated.
- Clean the plastic components in warm soapy water.
- Wipe over the electronics and clean with alcohol if required.
No matter how well the components are cleaned we find it impossible to wipe away the years of smiles.
Template Preparation
Carefully locate and attach the display template to the frame mount.
We chose to use two templates to display the difference between the front and rear cases of the Game Boy.
Preparation for Mounting
- Decide on the final positioning of each component piece and affix the appropriate sized mounting posts to each component.
Assembly
- Carefully locate and mount the components onto the display template.
Framing
- Place the display mount into the frame and voila! One completed item of wall art.
